The Data Access Portal has information in 3 columns. An outline of the content in these columns is provided above. When first entering the search interface, all potential datasets are listed. Datasets are indicated in the map and results tabulation elements which are located in the middle column. The order of results can be modified using the "Sort by" option in the left column. On top of this column is normally relevant guidance information to user presented as collapsible elements.
If the user want to refine the search, this can be done by constraining the bounding box search. This is done in the map - the listing of datasets is automatically updated. Date constraints can be added in the left column. For these to take effect, the user has to push the button marked search. In the left column it is also possible to specific text elements to search for in the datasets. Again pushing the button marked "Search" is necessary for these to take action. Complex search patterns can be constructed by changing the operators used in the text field and prefixing words with '+' and '-' to indicate whether they have to be present or should not be present in the results.
Other elements indicated in the left and right columns are facet searches, i.e. these are keywords that are found in the datasets and all datasets that contain these specific keywords in the appropriate metadata elements are listed together. Further refinement can be done using full text, date or bounding box constraints. Individuals, organisations and data centres involved in generating or curating the datasets are listed in the facets in the right column.

Abstract:
The dataset comprises of chronostratigraphic data from the Fildes Peninsula, King George Island, South Shetland Islands. The data have been used to constrain deglaciation and climate-glacier dynamics on the Fildes Peninsula. These data include C-14 density probability phases. Data was compiled with with Potter Peninsula and King George Island data and a non-parametric phase model applied.

Abstract:
Three separate airborne radar surveys were flown during the austral summer of 2016/17 over the Filchner Ice Shelf and Halley Ice Shelf (West Antarctica), and over the outlet glacier flows of the English Coast (western Palmer Land, Antarctic Peninsula) during the Filchner Ice Shelf System (FISS) project. This project was a NERC-funded (grant reference number: NE/L013770/1) collaborative initiative between the British Antarctic Survey, the National Oceanography Centre, the Met Office Hadley Centre, University College London, the University of Exeter, Oxford University, and the Alfred Wenger Institute to investigate how the Filchner Ice Shelf might respond to a warmer world, and what the impact of sea-level rise could be by the middle of this century.
The 2016/17 aerogeophysics surveys acquired a total of ~26,000 line km of aerogeophysical data. The FISS survey consisted of 17 survey flights totalling ~16,000 km of radar data over the Support Force, Recovery, Slessor, and Bailey ice streams of the Filchner Ice Shelf. The Halley Ice Shelf survey consisted of ~4,600 km spread over 5 flights and covering the area around the BAS Halley 6 station and the Brunt Ice Shelf. The English Coast survey consisted of ~5,000 km spread over 7 flights departing from the Sky Blu basecamp and linking several outlet glacier flows and the grounding line of the western Palmer Land, including the ENVISAT, CRYOSAT, GRACE, Landsat, Sentinel, ERS, Hall, Nikitin and Lidke ice streams.
Our Twin Otter aircraft was equipped with dual-frequency carrier-phase GPS for navigation, radar altimeter for surface mapping, wing-tip magnetometers, an iMAR strapdown gravity system, and a new ice-sounding radar system (PASIN-2).
We present here the processed line aeromagnetic data collected using the Scintrex cs3 caesium wing-tip magnetometers mounted in the BAS aerogeophysically equipped Twin Otter aircraft.

Abstract:
This dataset consists of a bed DEM and four velocity maps of Kongsvegen, a surge-type glacier in Svalbard. The bed DEM was generated from ground-penetrating radar surveys in spring 2016 and 2018, and the velocity maps span the period Dec 2017 to Feb 2019. The velocity maps show the initial speed-up of the glacier as it transitions from quiescence to surge.
Data acquisition was funded by NERC Urgency Grant NE/R018243/1 REBUS (Resolving Enthalpy Budget to Understand Surges).

Abstract:
These are digital optical televiewer (OPTV) logs of four boreholes drilled by hot water to various depths (see Instrumented Borehole Info) in Khumbu Glacier, Nepal. Boreholes were drilled in May 2017 and 2018 to investigate the internal properties of Khumbu Glacier, specifically ice thickness, temperature, deformation and structure, as part of the NERC-funded ''EverDrill'' research project.
Funding was provided by the NERC grant NE/P00265X/1 and NE/P002021/1.

Abstract:
This dataset contains gridded daily surface melt data for Antarctica estimated from passive microwave observations from the Scanning Microwave Multichannel Radiometer (SMMR), the Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I), and the Special Sensor Microwave Imager Sounder (SSMIS) spaceborne sensors and covering the 1978-2017 period. Also provided are the latitudes and longitudes of the grid and computed melt days for each austral summer (Dec-Jan-Feb) during the period.

Actinic fluxes were measured using the BAS spectroradiometer, between 7 January 2005 and 10 February 2005. Measurements taken mostly relate to down-welling flux, but the spectroradiometer was periodically inverted to record up-welling flux.
This work was carried out at the Clean Air Sector Laboratory (CASLab) at Halley Station, Antarctica, as part of the Chemistry of the Antarctic Boundary Layer and the Interface with Snow (CHABLIS) project (2001-2006).
The dataset provides ratios given as j-values for jO1D, nitrogen dioxide (jNO2) and nitrous acid (jHONO), at approximate one-minute intervals.

Abstract:
These are digital optical televiewer (OPTV) logs of five boreholes drilled by hot water to ~100 m depth in Larsen C Ice Shelf, Antarctica. Boreholes were drilled in austral summers of 2014 and 2015 in order to investigate the internal properties of the ice shelf, and specifically the influence of surface melting and melt pond formation on those properties.
These data are part of the NERC-funded MIDAS (''Impact of surface melt and ponding on ice shelf dynamics and stability'') research project, with grant references NE/L006707/1 and NE/L005409/1. Borehole density and temperature profiles are also available, as are other MIDAS datasets.

During the austral summer of 2004/05 a collaborative US/UK field campaign undertook a systematic geophysical survey of the entire Amundsen Sea embayment using comparable airborne survey systems mounted in Twin Otter aircraft. Here we present the portion of the survey covering the Pine Island Glacier basin led by British Antarctic Survey. Operating from a temporary field camp (PNE, S 77deg34'' W 095deg56''; we collected ~35,000 km of airborne survey data. Our aircraft was equipped with dual-frequency carrier-phase GPS for navigation, radar altimeter for surface mapping, wing-tip magnetometers, gravity meter, and a new ice-sounding radar system (PASIN). We present here the processed line aerogravity data collected using a LaCoste & Romberg air-sea gravity meter S83 mounted in the BAS aerogeophysically equiped Twin Otter aircraft.
Data are provided as XYZ ASCII line data.
This data set contains surface elevation data over Gabon, Africa. The measurements were taken by the NASA Land, Vegetation, and Ice Sensor (LVIS), an airborne lidar scanning laser altimeter. The data were collected as part of a NASA campaign, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) mission AfriSAR.
This data set contains vertical, cross body, and along body acceleration values for geophysical survey flights in Antarctica using the ZLS Dynamic Gravity Meter. The data were collected by scientists working on the International Collaborative Exploration of the Cryosphere through Airborne Profiling (ICECAP) project, which was funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Collaborative Research Center, and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) with additional support from NASA Operation IceBridge.
CEAREX was a multi-platform field program conducted in the Norwegian Seas and Greenland north to Svalbard from September 1988 through May 1989. Canada, Denmark, France, Norway and the United States participated in the experiment.

This data set contains backscatter data obtained by the Passive Active L-band System (PALS) microwave aircraft instrument as part of the Soil Moisture Active Passive Validation Experiment 2012 (SMAPVEX12).
The summary ground temperature database for northern Canada includes publicly available information from published and unpublished sources for 656 sites, 526 of which are in the permafrost region. The majority of the sites are currently abandoned, with only about 17% active. Measurements at the inactive sites were generally recorded between 1960 and the mid 1980s. Although ground temperatures were measured over a number of years at many sites, the database compilation contains mainly summary information. Information on site characteristics such as air temperature, snow cover and vegetation which influence the ground temperature regime has also been compiled. The database has been published as a Geological Survey of Canada Open File Report which also contains a series of maps and graphs illustrating site distribution, near-surface ground temperatures, and other attributes of the database.
The investigated area forms part of the western lobe of the Prealps (Swiss Prealps). The 25 identified fossil rock glaciers are found mainly in the Prealpes medianes rigides Nappe and the Niesen Nappe, at altitudes of 1500 to 2100 m. They represent at least three generations of fossil periglacial forms of late-glacial age (older than Balling), at about 1200, 950, and 700 m below today's permafrost boundary, respectively. These fossil features are related to glacial stages and form part of a detailed late-glacial morphostratigraphy. Information stored in a file includes: orientation, elevation of the source and the front, area, type of form, type of material, lithology, generation. These data are presented on the CAPS Version 1.0 CD- ROM, June 1998.
