The Data Access Portal has information in 3 columns. An outline of the content in these columns is provided above. When first entering the search interface, all potential datasets are listed. Datasets are indicated in the map and results tabulation elements which are located in the middle column. The order of results can be modified using the "Sort by" option in the left column. On top of this column is normally relevant guidance information to user presented as collapsible elements.
If the user want to refine the search, this can be done by constraining the bounding box search. This is done in the map - the listing of datasets is automatically updated. Date constraints can be added in the left column. For these to take effect, the user has to push the button marked search. In the left column it is also possible to specific text elements to search for in the datasets. Again pushing the button marked "Search" is necessary for these to take action. Complex search patterns can be constructed by changing the operators used in the text field and prefixing words with '+' and '-' to indicate whether they have to be present or should not be present in the results.
Other elements indicated in the left and right columns are facet searches, i.e. these are keywords that are found in the datasets and all datasets that contain these specific keywords in the appropriate metadata elements are listed together. Further refinement can be done using full text, date or bounding box constraints. Individuals, organisations and data centres involved in generating or curating the datasets are listed in the facets in the right column.

This data set contains a 2-m resolution DEM composite and auxiliary parameters over the Chamoli disaster area in Uttarakhand, India, where on 7 February 2021 a glacier burst led to a massive flood. This is the pre-event DEM constructed from monoscopic Maxar/DigitalGlobe WorldView-1 and WorldView-2 images collected in September 2015.
A post-event DEM is available as a separate data set (https://nsidc.org/data/HMA2_CPOST).
This data set contains 2-m resolution DEM composites and a DEM difference map over the Chamoli disaster area in Uttarakhand, India, where on 7 February 2021 a glacier burst led to a massive flood. These post-event DEMs were constructed from monoscopic Maxar/DigitalGlobe WorldView-2, WorldView-3, and GeoEye-1 images acquired on 10 February 2021 and 11 February 2021, and one DEM was generated from Pléiades-HR1B in-track stereo images acquired on 10 February 2021. The DEM difference map was created from the September 2015 weighted-mean DEM composite and the 10-11 February 2021 weighted-mean DEM composite.
The September 2015 pre-event DEM is available as a separate data set (https://nsidc.org/data/HMA2_CPRE).
This data set consists of soil moisture and soil temperature measurements taken during the SnowEx 2021 field campaign. Soil moisture probes were deployed at 9 locations within the Montana Prairie Station study area and monitored soil properties at four different depths (5, 10, 20 and 50 cm).

Dataset is comprised of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) data from sediments from International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 382, Site U1534, South Falkland Sediment Drift, 53.18967 S, 58.76083 W (605 m water depth).
The sediment cores were collected from 3 holes using the advanced piston corer onboard RV Joides Resolution from site U1534 between 29/03/2019 and 02/04/2019. XRF data was collected using the XRF Core Scanner III (AVAATECH Serial No. 12) at the XRF Core Scanner Lab at the MARUM (Center for Marine Environmental Sciences, University of Bremen, Germany), March-May 2021.
The data were collected as part of a project aiming to investigate the sensitivity of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation to variability in Pacific-Atlantic connectivity via the ''cold water route''. Dr Victoria Louise Peck was the principle investigator for this project.

This data contains snow depth measurements derived from time-lapse images collected by cameras placed around Grand Mesa, CO at 29 sites coincident with other SnowEx 2020 measurements. The field view of all cameras includes a 3.049 m, (10 ft) vertical pole that was painted red with a yellow top to serve as a reference for quantifying snow depth. The time-lapse images are archived separately at NSIDC (SNEX20_TLI).

Abstract:
The weights of fledging Macaroni penguin chicks at Bird Island have been monitored since 1989. The colony at Fairy Point, also known as Little Mac, contains approximately 400 breeding pairs. Each year, just before their departure from the colony, a sample of 100 fledgling birds are weighed as part of the Bird Island long-term monitoring programme. This data is submitted to the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) as part of their Ecosystem Monitoring Programme (CEMP).

Version 2.0
This data set contains mesospheric carbon monoxide (CO) data acquired by the ground-based microwave radiometer of the British Antarctic Survey (BAS radiometer) stationed at Troll station in Antarctica (72 deg S, 2.5 deg E, 1270 amsl). The BAS radiometer has been designed in order to study the effects of energetic particle precipitation on the middle and upper atmosphere, using nitric oxide and ozone measurements. This data set contains the CO measurements carried out in order to study the dynamical context.
The data set covers the period from February 2008 to January 2010, however, due to very low CO concentrations below approximately 80 km altitude in summer, profiles can only be retrieved during Antarctic winter. CO is measured for approximately 2 hours each day (80 percent of the profiles are within +-2 hours around local noon) and profiles are retrieved approximately every half hour. The retrieved profiles, cover two independent layers in the pressure range from 1 to 0.01 hPa (approximately 48 to 80 km, altitude resolution of approximately 16 km).
In this version of the data; an additional column of "apriori vmr" has been included in the data files.

We conduct a global survey of magnetosonic waves and compute the associated bounce and drift averaged diffusion coefficients, taking into account co-located measurements of fpe/fce, to assess the role of magnetosonic waves in radiation belt dynamics, where fpe is the plasma frequency and fce is the electron gyrofrequency.. The average magnetosonic wave intensities increase with increasing geomagnetic activity and decreasing relative frequency with the majority of the wave power in the range fcp < f < 0.3fLHR during active conditions, where fcp is the proton gyrofrequency and fLHR is the lower hybrid resonance frequency. In the region 4.0 <= L* <= 5.0, the bounce and drift averaged energy diffusion rates due to magnetosonic waves never exceed those due to whistler mode chorus, suggesting that whistler mode chorus is the dominant mode for electron energisation to relativistic energies in this region. Further in, in the region 2.0 <= L* <= 3.5, the bounce and drift averaged pitch angle diffusion rates due to magnetosonic waves can exceed those due to plasmaspheric hiss and very low frequency (VLF) transmitters over energy-dependent ranges of intermediate pitch angles. We compute electron lifetimes by solving the 1D pitch angle diffusion equation including the effects of plasmaspheric hiss, VLF transmitters and magnetosonic waves. We find that magnetosonic waves can have a significant effect on electron loss timescales in the slot region reducing the loss timescales during active times from 5.6 to 1.5 days for 500 keV electrons at L* = 2.5 and from 140.4 days to 35.7 days for 1 MeV electrons at L* = 2.0.
